I came to art late in life at age fifty after thirty years as an educator. It has been quite a journey, full of failures and successes, but one that has kept me going since I retired.  I began as a watercolorist and have since broadened my endeavors into acrylics, pastels, colored pencil, and painted glassware. For many years I was joined in artistic pursuits with my dear photographer husband who passed away in 2021. We were blessed to have more than fifty happy years together and my artwork has helped me to adjust to the new chapter in my life.

My watercolors have also morphed somewhat into what I call my pouring, rivulet style, and batik phases.  Inspired by the many artists I have met at workshops over the years, I feel that experimenting has kept me engaged and my work fresh and interesting. Encouraged by artist friends, many awards and sales, I look forward to days in my studio.  Light and shadow patterns frequently catch my eye and are incorporated into my work. My work is primarily realistic and I’m always looking for new subjects and points of view.  Occasionally, I veer into abstraction, but always with an eye toward clean, crisp work. 

I am a signature member of the Hoover Watercolor Society, currently active in that group as well as the Louisiana Artists, Shreveport Art Club, and the Creative Art Connection exhibiting in all their shows. My work has also been shown in galleries in Shreveport, Natchitoches, Ruston, Texarkana, and Jennings, as well as at the Sunflower Trail and Festival, Barnwell Garden and Art Center and Le Tour des Jardins. I was pleased to have a piece included in Nita Leland’s book, The New Creative Artist, in 2006.
